March 2-10, 2026 Kite Beach Photos

Nonstop wind action since February 28th has kept everyone on the water — and honestly left this photographer a little behind on posting photos. When the wind is blowing, it’s hard to choose between riding and sitting behind a screen.

This latest photo batch from March 2–10 captures a little bit of everything that makes riding in El Cuyo so special. From young groms charging hard and learning new tricks, to experienced kiteboarders, kitesurfers, and wing foilers making the most of the conditions, the beach has been buzzing with energy.

It seems like every day has been firing with 22+ knots, delivering powered sessions from late morning into sunset. The kind of wind that keeps the water full and the smiles even bigger. Watching the next generation of riders progress while seasoned riders push their limits makes every windy afternoon feel like a mini festival on the water.

After a long run of windy days, we’ve got a short rain delay in the forecast, but it looks like we’ll be right back to our regularly scheduled programming shortly after.

And honestly… a no-wind day isn’t a bad thing around here.

Those glassy conditions make for the perfect time to hop on an eFoil and cruise the coastline.

If you're in town and want to get involved — whether it’s learning, upgrading your gear, or trying something new — stop by Downwind Deck Efoil School and Wind Shop in El Cuyo. We’ve got the latest gear and can help get you out on the water.

Until the next windy session…See you on the water. 🌊🪁⚡

March 1, 2026 our thermal wind has officially kicked on, filling El Cuyo Kite Beach with happy kiters and wing foilers. You could feel the energy shift as the breeze built and the water lit up with color. Kites in the sky, wings carving back and forth and that unmistakable sound of stoke echoing down the shoreline.

The little groms were on fire — ear to ear smiles, learning backrolls faster than this almost 40-year-old. Nothing better than watching the next generation send it with zero fear and full commitment. They bounce when us oldies break. Progress was happening everywhere you looked. First rides, first transitions, first jumps. High fives all around.

Days like this are what make El Cuyo special. Consistent thermals, warm water, and a tight crew pushing each other to ride better every session. It’s not just about the wind — it’s about the community. Nice to see everyone out sharing waves, wind, and good vibes.

See you on the water. 🌊

Some days El Cuyo delivers nuclear wind and legendary sessions.

Other days? Glassy water, blue skies, and zero breeze.

That’s where efoiling at Downwind Deck comes in—and honestly, it might become your favorite way to ride. Whether you’re a first-timer, a seasoned kiter, winger or traveling with those who don’t ride (yet), efoiling keeps the stoke alive no matter the forecast.

What Is Efoiling (and Why Everyone’s Obsessed)

Efoiling uses a remote-controlled electric hydrofoil to allow you to glide above the water on foil. Our Waydoo eFoils are known for their reliability, smooth power delivery and beginner-friendly design. They even have lights for night sessions over bioluminescence.

You float silently above the water (on foil), carving turns and cruising effortlessly. It feels like flying… but calm, controlled and ridiculously fun. Most riders are up and riding within 2 hours.

Easy to Learn. Hard to Stop Smiling.

One of the best parts of efoiling at Downwind Deck? How accessible it is.

  • No previous board sports required

  • Stable boards + intuitive remote control

  • Quick coaching gets you flying fast

  • Fun for all ages, 8 - 75+ is recommended.

The Ultimate No-Wind Day Weapon & Secret Weapon for Learning Wing & Kite Foiling

If you travel for wind sports, you already know: rest days happen.

Instead of sitting it out, efoiling turns no-wind days into highlight days.

No wind = Flat water = perfect conditions for mastering foil.

Efoiling makes the progression to kite and wing foiling easier.

  • Learn foil balance without worrying about the kite or wing

  • Dial in stance, weight distribution and turns

  • Understand weight distribution for coming on and off foil

  • Build muscle memory fast

  • Gain confidence above the water

Many riders find that wing foiling and kite foiling click faster after efoiling. You already understand the foil—now add the wing or kite
