Kite Beach in El Cuyo, Mexico.

Day 2 of El Cuyo Kite Fest brought a different challenge — offshore wind. While the conditions made it tough for some riders to get on the water, it definitely couldn’t keep this crew from having a good time.

Even with the wind blowing offshore, the beach in El Cuyo stayed full of energy. Riders and spectators gathered along the shoreline, sharing stories, checking gear, and keeping the festival spirit alive. Music played, cold drinks circulated, and the community vibe that makes this event special carried the day.

When the racing did happen, the events delivered exciting results:

Sprint Race – Foil Varonil

  1. Max Lhullier (France)

  2. Jaime Ancira (Jalisco)

  3. Ramón Roca (Mexico)

Sprint Race – Wing Femenil

  1. Cathy Padget (United Kingdom)

  2. Paola Gargari (Mexico)

Sprint Race – Femenil

  1. Coco Gerber (Switzerland)

  2. Ananda Gamio (Mexico)

  3. Sara Rojas (Spain)

Highest Jump

  1. Max Lhullier (France)

  2. Jaime Ancira (Jalisco)

  3. Hugo Solís (Mexico)

While the offshore wind may have slowed the racing schedule, it couldn’t slow the festival. Kids played along the beach, riders stayed ready in case the wind shifted, and the good vibes carried into the evening.

Sometimes the best part of a wind festival isn’t just the racing — it’s the people who come together to share their love for the sport. Day 2 was a reminder that even when conditions aren’t perfect, the El Cuyo kite community always finds a way to make it a great day.

Year two of the El Cuyo Kite Fest kicked off with exactly what everyone came for — racing, friends, and a beach full of good energy in El Cuyo.

From early in the day the beach was buzzing as riders rigged up for the first competitions. Competitors lined up for the kite and wing foil races and body dragging ninos to test their speed and skills on the water. Colorful kites filled the sky while foils sliced silently across the turquoise water just offshore.

The racing brought out a little friendly competition, but the vibe stayed true to El Cuyo — relaxed, supportive, and full of smiles. Riders pushed hard around the course while spectators watched from the beach, cheering them on between sips of cold drinks.

Of course, no beach event is complete without a little unpredictability. A rain delay rolled through during the afternoon, sending people scrambling for cover. But if there’s one thing we know in El Cuyo, it’s that you can’t control the weather…

As the racing wrapped up, the celebration continued on shore. Music started pumping, drinks were flowing, and riders from all over gathered to share stories. It’s moments like these that make the festival special — not just the competition, but the community that comes together around the sport.

Day 1 of the El Cuyo Kite Fest always a surprise and always a good time.

And with more events still ahead, this is only the beginning.

Stay tuned — Day 2 is coming. 🪁🌊🎶

Most people come to El Cuyo for the wind. Kiteboarding, wing foiling, and long days on the water are what this small beach town is known for. But every now and then, the action moves from the ocean to the air in a completely different way.

Recently we had the chance to mix things up and spend an afternoon with the crew at Salto Trapeze — and let’s just say it delivered plenty of laughs, a few surprisingly graceful moments, and a lot of adrenaline.

If you’ve never tried trapeze before, the idea can feel a little intimidating at first. You climb up a tall platform, grab the bar, and launch yourself out into open air. For a moment you’re flying — swinging high above the ground before dropping safely into the net below. It’s equal parts thrill, challenge, and pure fun. Our group was a perfect mix of first timers and people just looking to try something new. I’d like to say everyone looked graceful soaring through the air… but let’s be honest. Some of the guys gave us some pretty good comedy moments.

The real stars of the show? The ladies absolutely crushed it. Clean swings, smooth timing, and a level of confidence that made it look way easier than it actually is.

One of the things that makes activities like this so great in El Cuyo is the community vibe. Whether it’s learning your first kiteboard jump, trying wing foiling, or stepping off a trapeze platform for the first time, there’s always a crew cheering you on and celebrating the moment. It’s also the perfect reminder that this little town offers more than just wind sports. Between the flat water lagoon filled with flamingos, steady thermal winds, and unique experiences like trapeze, El Cuyo continues to surprise those who visit.

So next time you’re in town and looking to try something new, take a break from the water for an afternoon and go fly through the air. You might discover a hidden talent…or at the very least give your friends something to laugh about.

Either way, it’s all part of the adventure in El Cuyo. 🎪🌊
