El Cuyo Kite Fest – Year 2, Day 1

Year two of the El Cuyo Kite Fest kicked off with exactly what everyone came for — racing, friends, and a beach full of good energy in El Cuyo.

From early in the day the beach was buzzing as riders rigged up for the first competitions. Competitors lined up for the kite and wing foil races and body dragging ninos to test their speed and skills on the water. Colorful kites filled the sky while foils sliced silently across the turquoise water just offshore.

The racing brought out a little friendly competition, but the vibe stayed true to El Cuyo — relaxed, supportive, and full of smiles. Riders pushed hard around the course while spectators watched from the beach, cheering them on between sips of cold drinks.

Of course, no beach event is complete without a little unpredictability. A rain delay rolled through during the afternoon, sending people scrambling for cover. But if there’s one thing we know in El Cuyo, it’s that you can’t control the weather…

As the racing wrapped up, the celebration continued on shore. Music started pumping, drinks were flowing, and riders from all over gathered to share stories. It’s moments like these that make the festival special — not just the competition, but the community that comes together around the sport.
