Mayan Wind Fest with Shaka Vibes in Cancun, Mexico

Three days of nonstop action, My first Mayan Wind Fest did not disappoint.

Sailing, kite, wing, foil, fiestas… somehow they managed to cram everything into one epic weekend, and every minute delivered. From Freestyle, Big Air, Relays and Races, the stoke level stayed high.

Huge shoutout to @ShakaVibesCancun @Maxico25 and the entire team for hosting such a well-organized, fun, and inclusive event. It was inspiring to see riders of all ages and skill levels sharing the same love of wind sports. New friendships were made, limits were pushed and fresh goals were set.

Backroll board off—you’re officially on the 2026 mission list.

Mayan Wind Fest also kicks off kite festival season, and let’s just say… the bar has been set high. Next stop: El Cuyo Kite Fest | March 13–16, 2026. See you there 🤙

As always, Downwind Deck couldn’t resist snapping a few shots along the way.

What a perfect Christmas in El Cuyo, Mexico!  You know you have a good kiting group chat when you initiate a kiteboarding costume theme day with 4 hours of notice... And everyone delivers!  This is no easy ask…If you have been to El Cuyo, you will understand how challenging it can be to throw together a theme costume here.  Very limited supplies.

Ask: Wear Christmas Hats & Red...

Well done @mandajeney and the MiniMarket El Farito for having the perfect hats & t-shirts to pull it all together.  We all look like a bunch of Christmas Elves + Reindeer scurrying across the water.  Hilarious. Smiles were plentiful and the red really makes these photos even better.

Kite season is just getting started and we are looking forward to another amazing 2025/2026 season in El Cuyo Mexico at Downwind Deck. Efoils, Kiteboarding, Kitesurfing, Wing Foiling, Kite Foiling, Paddleboarding…if it’s a water sport we are here to help accommodate. Wind has been a steady 15-20+ knots almost daily.

As always hotel guests have top priority in equipment rentals and photography sessions.

Santa came early this year and we couldnt be more blessed. Smiles all around at El Cuyo Kite Beach in Mexico as Santa brought us another sweet windy day. Kites sizes varying from 9m to 15m dotted the sky. While a few wingers and a wind surfer tested their skills.

My guess 18-22knots.

Bikinis out, no wetsuits needed here, it is a warm start to the season and we are throughly enjoying it.

For those to exhausted to cook Chef Marcos @marcos.at.work prepared an amazing Christmas Feast - Para Llevar style. Meaty, hearty and flavorful, it was much needed after a sweet kite session. Sorry I was too hungry and ate before taking photos. But I assure it was magical. A perfect Christmas Feast, the Grinch would have stole it. And the Whos would have sang about it in the finale.

As always, Downwind Deck hotel guests always get photo priority.
